Preview: Appetit Bistro

The french restaurant Port Chester has been waiting for.

Despite being a foodie destination town where many cuisines are represented, Port Chester lacks a French restaurant.

Or, at least, it did.

Open since early June, Appétit Bistro is the brainchild of Port Chester resident Edwin Montoya and his brother-in-law, Edi Rivera. Montoya runs the front-of-the-house, and Rivera is the chef, having 10 years experience in the kitchen at L’Escale in Greenwich, CT.

Tuna tartare with avocado and soy-lime dressing is the standout appetizer to order.

Entrées, which run from $16 to $26, include classic French fare such as duck a l’orange, chicken paillard, lemon sole in a caper brown butter sauce, and exceptional moules frites.

Depending on business at the three-month marker, the modest and tiny (20-seat) bistro may expand to the adjacent vacant space.
