A morning cup of coffee is much more than just coffee when said cup is at The Kitchen Table. A cheery and sincere greeting can always be expected from the baristas behind the counter. Locals sit at the long bar and greet one another, swap community news and weekend party invites. The Kitchen Table is located in the heart of Scotts Corner, the hub of Pound Ridge, where small shops line the street and shopkeepers wave a familiar hello to passersby.
A successful coffee shop/café can be the root of a community and The Kitchen Table has proven to be just that. Daphne and Robbie Everett, long-time residents of Pound Ridge, thought for years the town was missing a casual coffee shop. In 2014, they changed that with the opening of The Kitchen Table. Fresh baked scones and quiches sit on the counter; breakfasts, such as classic egg and bacon plates, avocado toast, and organic Hudson Valley yogurt parfaits are offered until 3 p.m., a rarity in the county (with the exception of diners). Italian organic Bonjo brand coffee fills steaming cups.

The décor is a mix of industrial and farmhouse with a nod to the local hipster vibe. A row of high pewter stools lines the knotted-wood base counter, giving regulars a place to park while a piping hot Americano is made to go or a Nutella toast on grilled brioche is whipped up. Tables around the space are commonly filled with mobile office-types and friends on breakfast or lunch dates. The cozy familiarity of the place also attracts a Moms group that chat away while their toddlers busy themselves with crayons and placemats.
Lunch selections include daily soups, a roasted veggie quinoa salad, BLT with applewood-smoked bacon and organic lettuce and tomato; and veggie and roasted red pepper hummus sandwich.
Come weekend nights, The Kitchen Table transforms into a fun tavern, with small bites, craft beers, and wines-by-the-glass. The kitchen does close at 9:30 p.m., but the crowds linger long after, catching up on the day and planning meetups for the weekend.
A small retail section holds artisan offerings such as local made honey, maple syrups, ceramics, and textiles.
Open Tuesday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
