This upcoming summer will be a fun one that’s perfect for the whole family in Westchester. After much speculation, Playland Park announced that it will open on Saturday, May 24, with a ceremony at 11 a.m. The park will offer free admission through Monday, May 26, until 6 p.m., featuring food concessions, games, and entertainment.
Westchester County Executive Kenneth W. Jenkins announced Wednesday, May 7 that Playland Park will be open all Memorial Day weekend. Visitors can enjoy rides like Coaster the Dragon, a lively steel drum plater, strolling entertainers, and an interactive DJ. Beach admission fees apply.
“Summer in Westchester means a summer spent at Playland – and this summer will be no different,” Jenkins notes. Although Playland Beach will be open from May 24 to May 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the pool is set to open in June. In addition to free admission, parking will be reduced to $10 over Memorial Day weekend.
The extent of ride availability still needs to be determined by the County and the New York State Department of Labor to confirm which rides are certified for public use, following the transition from Standard Amusements in November 2024 in preparation for the 2025 season. Standard Amusements issued a press release in February 2025 which mentions the transition planning.
“We all love Playland – it’s a part of all of us – and we need it to be a part of our summer,” Jenkins shares.
During the Wednesday announcement, the County expressed its gratitude to all park vendors and the Westchester County Department of Parks and Conservation. In the leadup to opening day, Playland will be hosting three job fairs at the Westchester County Center in Exhibition Hall on May 10 and June 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be an in-person job fair at Playland Park on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for positions like ride operators, ride attendants, lifeguards, cashiers, custodial staffers, and painters.

Applicants interested need to bring a valid photo I.D. and a blank voided check or a bank-issued direct deposit form to enroll in direct deposit. Applicants ages 16 or 17 must be accompanied by an adult. Salaries start at $16.60 per hour.
