Westchester’s own Purchase-based PepsiCo Inc. will debut at the 88th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City by letting the “surprise inside” every Cracker Jack package take the form of a 36-feet-long “At the Ball Game” float. And they’re doing it with some noise.
As a part of the “Surprise Inside” ad campaign, the float is a baseball-themed mammoth more than three stories high with an infield, outfield, bleachers, firework contraptions, and a complete stage where a live musical performance will take place.
“With our first-ever Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade float, we really wanted to bring all of our Cracker Jack themes to life,” said Ram Krishnan, senior vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay North America—Cracker Jack’s corporate division—in a statement. “The tradition of baseball, the spirit of surprise and the essence of Americana, but with a fresh, unexpected twist.”
Beyond the “traditional” baseball theme, the float will also have cameras and a larger-than-life LED screen that’ll reflect the surrounding parade.
The float was made possible by PepsiCo’s partnership with Macy’s and Major League Baseball, which, for the first time in more than 20 years, agreed to reintroduce team-specific stickers in Cracker Jack packages.
“This remarkable new addition to the line-up will capture the imagination of millions as it makes its way down the streets of Manhattan,” said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.
Macy’s 88th annual Thanksgiving Parade will rumble down a more than two-mile-long route through Manhattan between 9 am and noon on Thanksgiving Day.
