Pelham-Born 'Psycho Bunny' Attire Blends Hip Branding With English Tailoring

Local clothing with “a sense of adventure and original style.”

Izod has its prepster crocodile and Ralph Lauren its aspirational polo horseman. So you wouldn’t expect a menswear company called Psycho Bunny to sport a sweet little Easter Bunny-ish logo. And it doesn’t. Its slightly crazed-looking, skull-and-crossbones rabbit is spot-on for a brand with this offbeat—and unforgettable—moniker. Founded in 2005 by Pelham resident Robert Goldman and his British pal Robert Godley, Psycho Bunny marries fresh American design with meticulous British tailoring. The result is a sophisticated yet decidedly hip twist on contemporary classics that includes everything from Pima-cotton-blend color-block socks made in Peru ($30) to preppy, Italian cotton plaid sport shirts ($195) and a signature polo shirt ($85 to $110).

“When someone puts on a Psycho Bunny polo,” says Goldman, “they feel the connection to dressing with a sense of adventure and original style.” The polo is offered in an array of colors (plum, grass green, bubblegum) and combos (there’s an especially au courant orchid-and-black). T-shirts, Intarsia cotton sweaters, ties, swim shorts, and ball caps round out the spring offerings, a leap from when Psycho Bunny first launched with a collection of handmade silk ties. (Goldman grew up in a family of renowned neckwear makers.) Soon, other items bearing the crazed rabbit were introduced, and the brand began to develop an almost cult-like following; among its fans are former NBA player and current ESPN analyst Bruce Bowen, professional polo player Kris Kampsen, and astronaut Garrett Reisman.
