Peekskill resident Sol Miranda has been brought onboard Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, a new NBC sitcom created by Tina Fey that will debut later this year.
The show is about a woman who escapes from a doomsday cult to start a new life in New York. In the show, Miranda plays a pragmatic former-cultist named Donna Maria, who is now a maid working in the City. In the past, Miranda has made appearances on Law and Order and A Gifted Man.
In Peekskill she co-founded a program called Embark, which is a partnership of performing and literary artists. The Embark program explores the role arts plays in building community and in celebrating diversity. Miranda said she hopes her role in the sitcom inspires members of Embark.
