On Friday, February 6, the National Transportation Safety Board held its fourth and final press briefing regarding Tuesday’s Valhalla MTA crash, this time discussing the engineer’s actions, the third rail’s entry into the first car’s cabin, and the train’s evacuation process.
It’s pretty refreshing to see how open and forthcoming the NTSB has been throughout this entire process, especially with how many open questions there still are. Though this is the last briefer they’ll hold from Tarrytown, the Board’s currently doing a three-day scan to create 3D models of all involved aspects of the crash for their ongoing investigation.
