Dr. Suess Visited This On-the-Market Mount Kisco Home

Share

A chance at owning a piece of history could be just around the corner (or, if you’re from Mount Kisco, you can drive around the corner to ogle it from afar). Random House Publishing Founder, Bennett Cerf’s Mount Kisco home, located at 80 Orchard Road, is on the market: Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty is offering this house listing for $1,999,000.

Cerf purchased this colonial home in the 1930’s, eventually going on to host historical individuals such as Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy, and Dr. Seuss.

The 5,789 square foot mansion that sits on 9.63-acres of land has been known as the “The Columns” due to its two-story columned veranda: even after selling Random House Cerf ended up spending much of his later years here.

The house, which holds a swimming poll, tennis court, golf course, stunning gardens, meadows, all overlooking the Mount Kisco River, was designed to entertain.

The estate includes two separate guesthouses where many other celebrities and well-known high society members of New York and D.C. have stayed.

This house did go under renovation in order to keep up with 21st century lifestyle details.
