New York Comic Fest Coming To Westchester

This June, it’s all about comics, creators, collectibles, cosplay—and fans!

New York Comic Fest will be held at the Westchester County Center in White Plains on June 14, 2014.

This one-day event will feature writers from comic industry giants Marvel and DC, plus dozens of independent writers. Toy, collectible, and original art dealers, plus two costume contests, a trivia contest and the Batmobile will all be featured at the event. The convention will start at 10 am and end at 6 pm.

New York Comic Fest (NYCF) says its goal is to promote those who create comics and provide a welcoming atmosphere to fans and families. Prices are $20 for a ticket in advance, $25 day of show with children under 12 free with a ticket-holding adult. Learn more at the convention’s website, here.

There will be a long lineup of guests, and some of these talented creators either live, work, or went to school in Westchester:

Scott Snyder: NYCF’s “Guest of Honor” is working on one the best selling comic on the market—Batman. Other works include American Vampire, Superman Unchained, and a collection of prose stories called “Voodoo Heart.”

J. J. Sedelmaier: Animation director of “Saturday Night Live’s” TV Fun House featuring The Ambiguously Gay Duo, X-Presidents, Steven Colbert’s Tek Jansen, Beavis and Butt-Head, and many others. Not only is he a Westchester County resident, but his office is in White Plains.

Paul Levitz: The longtime DC Comics president and publisher, who splits his time between NYC and Westchester, is now one of comics’ foremost historians and teachers. He also continues to write comics, such as DC’s Worlds’ Finest.

Dean Haspiel: Emmy Award-winning artist for illustrations on HBO’s “Bored To Death,” creator of BILLY DOGMA and The Red Hook are just a few credits. His latest project is Mamaroneck-based Archie/Red Circle’s The Fox—with writer Mark Waid.
