New Stores

new concepts

Elemental Design Concepts introduces a creative new philosophy: blending the elements of nature with an impressive selection of high-end furnishings and finishes. The White Plains-based design center, the creation of entrepreneur Fred Mastroianni, features upscale brands such as NEFF kitchens, Villeroy & Boch, and Italian furniture lines (including Reflex/Angelo, Ver Design, Tomasella, and Angelo Cappellini). The one-stop shop retains a full-time staff of painters, artists, custom woodworkers, and tile craftsmen who provide complete design and contracting services. “We have the in-house capability to do every aspect of a project from concept to completion without the need of outside contractors. It’s a very cohesive and efficient process,” Mastroianni says.

coffee’s cooking

Opening its doors in Mahopac in 1998, John Porter’s Kitch n’ Kaffe became a no-holds-barred shop for all kitchen needs, offering a slew of culinary goodies (like bakeware, cutlery, cookware, countertop appliances, aprons, and even gluten-free foods) and hosting on-site cooking classes. Porter’s new Bedford Hills store promises to be an equally formidable resource, with more than 10,000 products requested by chefs and home “culinary artists” alike. Need a break from browsing the gadgets and gifts? The store’s coffee bar proffers a variety of coffees, teas, and espresso drinks, plus a sampling of yummy baked goods. And, if you’re dull, bring your knives: the store offers a next-day knife-sharpening service.

what’s in storage

Wandering around transFORM’s brand-new New Rochelle showroom, you’ll feel as if you never left the house. That’s because co-founder Andreas Messis, a former Broadway set designer and mastermind behind the 3,000-square-foot space, designed it that way. The new showroom highlights how the company, which specializes in storage solutions for the whole house, can turn chaos into high-style order. “Rather than seeing display after display out of context, you’ll wind your way through showroom vignettes that provide ideas for the entire house, from the office and library to an entertainment unit in the family room and a pantry in the kitchen,” says TransFORM co-founder Stuart Reisch.
