This luxe boutique of birch wood and purple velvet, whose name combines the proprietor/lead designer’s initials and part of the French verb for “to knit,” showcases an exquisite collection of hand-knitted and -crocheted couture garments by Malvina Guretsky. “The look is a timeless and feminine one featuring classic silhouettes and luxurious materials,” says the self-taught designer, a former globe-trotting Wall Streeter whose work Martha Stewart recently lauded on her TV show. Her line of impeccably detailed frocks ($750 to $1,800 for a one-of-a-kind crocheted wedding gown); separates ($450+); outerwear; and shawls is fashioned from such fine natural fabrics and fibers as hand-dyed Japanese silk, Mongolian and Italian cashmere, hand-spun Mongolian camel fiber, hand-crafted Murano glass beads, and hand-sequined American yarns. Also offered are oversized throws and customizable baby blankets, both of cashmere, and, for the well-heeled petite stylista, a young girls’ collection for newborns to five-year-olds that includes cashmere cardigans starting at $150. Want a different color, fabric, or sleeve? Custom orders, which take up to two months, are encouraged.

As (not surprisingly) big proponents of the art of the written word, we’re psyched to welcome the first location of this premier paper boutique chain to Westchester. For those occasions when a wackily auto-corrected text or exclamation-studded email just won’t do, this colorful emporium offers an inspiring selection of its own brand’s fine and artisanal papers, invitations, stationery, greeting cards, custom stamps, and the like, in keeping with its “Do Something Creative Every Day” mission. Launched in the early ’80s in Chicago by Sue Lindstrom, described in the company’s “About Us” as a woman “delightfully obsessed with paper,” the Paper Source’s own extensive collection of digital, letterpress, engraved, and foil-printed wedding invitations is particularly noteworthy, as is its selection of fun, often seasonally inspired, gifts.
