The Makers New York by Moore Custom Goods
132 Larchmont Ave, Ste 8, Larchmont
As a fashion designer for 15 years and an entrepreneur, Andrea Moore Beaulieu likes to be hands-on and up-close to her creations. The Makers New York, her apparel workshop and retail boutique is the perfect place to display these talents. Beaulieu’s designs have been featured in Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and she’s also collaborated with big brands like Nike and Adidas. She handcrafts, customizes, and repurposes one-of-a-kind men’s and women’s wear in an elevated streetwear style.
After five years at home with three young children, she felt inspired to make a mark in downtown Larchmont. “My sales floor is also my workshop, so my customers can experience all of the clothes that are being created in real time,” Beaulieu says. In addition to producing original merchandise for sale, the designer will do almost anything sewing-related for a client. Whether it is designing a new item using a beautiful piece of fabric from somewhere around the world or the reworking of an existing garment, the goal is to bring a new vision to life. “I really enjoy working with people who have unique body types; it can be really challenging to shop off the rack for something you want to feel your best in.”
Her Moore brand, which launched in 2013, is known for its hyper-neutral palette, relaxed silhouettes, and gender-neutral designs. From a creamy silk bow top ($145) to a high-neck chartreuse coat ($425), originality and craftsmanship come first. Her ready-to-wear seasonal collections at the shop include dresses, pants, tops, and jackets that are crafted with sustainability in mind—where vegan fabrics and local production minimize the environmental footprint.

Gioia means “joy” in Italian and is also the nickname given to Gianna Stiloski by her grandmother. It’s a fitting choice for her new shop in Mount Kisco, where Stiloski channeled her passion for fashion and her dream of one day designing her own clothing line, by pausing her fashion merchandising studies at Marist College and creating a trendy, new shop that opened in November.

“I describe it as a women’s boutique that’s very girly and feminine with special occasion wear, dresses, knits, sweaters, and loungewear—plus gifts and accessories,” says Stiloski. Another specialty at the shop is permanent jewelry by appointment (walkins if available), where friends, sisters, mother-daughter pairs—or anyone—can have a chain, anklet, or bracelet welded by Stiloski that will stay on “forever.” Gioia carries a number of popular brands including Boys Lie, Happy Camp3r, Rumored, and dresses from Amy Jane London. “I love helping people experiment with fashion,” says Stiloski, a Fox Lane High School graduate. “It’s fun to curate a collection and guide people to what they would like to buy.”

The main reason Hannah Saujet, a former buyer for Saks, opened her Larchmont boutique last April is that she wanted to enable women to find clothing—without a struggle—that reflects who they are, while finding joy in the process. “I also want them to find treasures that they didn’t know existed,” Saujet says. Customers can discover an eclectic collection of ready-to-wear clothing and accessories, featuring niche designer brands from Los Angeles, Europe, and beyond—including exclusive pieces from Spanish brand Charo Ruiz Ibiza, Forte_Forte (Italy), Max & Moi (France), Hannah Artwear (Australia), and more.

By traveling the world, she is able to curate and showcase limited-distribution brands seldom found in department stores. One side of the boutique features special occasion clothing and the other side has separates like leather pants, sweaters, knits, and outerwear. “I travel to France a lot and have followed certain brands forever, so it is a delight and really so much fun to bring them here,” she says.
