Mount Vernon Woman Sentenced for Running Over and Killing “Rival”

The Westchester County District Attorneys Office has announced that Carla Scott, a Mount Vernon resident, was sentenced to 25 years in state prison today in Westchester County Court for running over and killing her “rival,” 37-year-old Glynis Pinto, who was dating her ex-boyfriend.Back in July, Scott, 36, was found guilty of first-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatal accident on April 18, 2015. Pinto was standing in front of her own vehicle on Warburton and Babcock Avenues in Yonkers when Scott, who has a previous felony conviction for fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, drove her 2009 Mercedez Benz into Pinto, launching her onto the Benz’s hood. Scott drove with Pinto hanging on the hood for about 30 yards until she fell onto the road, at which point Scott’s vehicle continued to run her over.According to Lohud, Scott’s lawyer, Lawrence Fisher, asked for the minimum sentence, largely due to Scott’s role as caretaker for her six children. Prosecutors asked for the maximum sentence of 25 years.Pinto was left with multiple fractures and internal injuries, after which Yonkers police arrived and Pinto was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead that evening. Scott had fled the scene and was arrested four days later after an investigation by Yonkers police, the Westchester County DA, and the FBI.
