South Salem’s Vivian Hoffman opened her Mount Kisco fashion boutique with her son Greg on a whim in June 2017, after leaving her position of 25 years as senior merchant at Century 21 Department Stores in New York City. She saw a need in Westchester for a fun, affordable shopping destination and suitably named her boutique Whim (www.whimlove.com).
In November 2018, Hoffman opened a second location, in Bronxville, to offer the same chic clothing and accessories to residents down county. Whim sells “of-the-moment” fashion, activewear, and accessories. Also in stock is a small shoe selection, with new shipments arriving almost daily.
Hoffman currently operates the business with her son and daughter and says, “Our customers are young at heart. We sell to everyone from high school girls to hip moms. We often get mothers and daughters shopping together.” Whim offers shoppers reasonably priced items, with 95 percent of its merchandise retailing for under $100 and most pieces under $40.
