Mount Kisco Jewelry Designer Cyndi David’s Collection Now Available in Stores

When she was a 6- or 7-year-old growing up in Yonkers, Cyndi David started fashioning little rings and necklaces from the colorful wires left behind by the telephone repairmen who worked on her street. Flash forward through college, where she spent two years studying fine arts, then careers in marketing and education, to six years ago. At home and pregnant with her first child, she returned to the craft.

This time around, David has traded in telephone wire and leather scraps for sterling silver, bronze, semi-precious stones, crystals, leather, and fresh-water pearls. And while now she also works in clay, this type is no Play-Doh, but rather a precious-metal clay that contains tiny pieces of bronze and silver. When fired up in the kiln in her Mount Kisco home studio, the clay matter evaporates, leaving a fine metal piece that she then polishes.

David, who describes her line as “wearable art,” says her favorite part of the creative process is “designing something original and then seeing people wear it.” With signature images like cut-out or embossed hearts, flowers, and trees, her current collections include bronze cuff bracelets, small initialed silver disc pendants, and leather wristbands with stone or silver details. Prices range from $28 to about $175. The full collection is carried at Beehive Designer Collective, with select pieces available at D’Errico Jewelers; both stores are located in Mount Kisco. Custom orders generally take about 10 days to two weeks. For more info: (914) 479-7010
