When two of Mount Kisco’s favorite eateries closed up for the night last Friday, that was the end. Owned by restaurateur and former journalist Leslie Lampert, soup and sandwich shop Ladle of Love and larger locale Café of Love were famous for their commitment to healthy, locally-sourced, and sustainably raised ingredients.
“It was probably a little overdue,” Lampert says of the decision to consolidate the business into Ladle of Love’s Bronxville location and related endeavors: Love on the Run catering and Ladle’s farmers’ market presence, as well as Lampert’s hunger and food waste initiative work with Feeding Westchester and as the Scrappy Chef. “There’s a principle in business called ‘shrinking to grow,’” she says. “Our Bronxville location is vibrant. Love on the Run catering is also flourishing.”

For die-hard fans, Lampert adds that the remaining location will still deliver practically anywhere in Westchester, and then some: In addition to their own drivers, patrons can place delivery order online via Seamless, Grubhub, and Uber Eats. “Anything we make at Ladle of Love we’ll happily deliver to anyone, says Lampert. “We’re going to be doing it in a way that gets the delivery system even more in [line with] the way that people eat now.”
“I feel really proud of the brand and how we’re going to serve and deliver to the community,” Lampert says. “We’re still serving the love. We’re still contemplative of how everyone eats.”
