Registration is open for the World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament staged by Carr Golf. It’s held in County Kerry, which may not be in New York, but it might as well be a local event when you consider how many teams have brought trophies home from there. Last year, Michael and Stephanie Sullivan of Garden City Country Club won the gross division while Larry and Clare Foley, playing out of the Country Club of Fairfield, won the 36-hole net event in the “Better Ball Stableford” format.
Second in low gross score last year was the team of Steven and Kaitlyn Lee. The Westchester CC team won the tournament in 2016. Prizes awarded aren’t limited to on-course play, either. Carly and Jared Haines of New Rochelle’s Wykagyl Country Club won the 2017 award for “Best Dressed.”
The 11th annual World Invitational Father & Daughter Tournament will be held July 23–26 on County Kerry’s Waterville Golf Links for the fourth consecutive year. Highlights include three rounds of golf at Waterville, deluxe nightly accommodations, reception, full Irish breakfasts each morning, tournament photo, shuttle transportation throughout and prize ceremony complemented by a BBQ dinner. “This captivating tournament has been growing year-after-year as it gives participants a chance to compete, mingle and laugh with likeminded golfers from around the world,” says Marty Carr, executive chairman of Carr Golf. “Watching fathers and their daughters spend time bonding over golf on one of the most beautiful layouts in the game is truly special.”
