Just like having your own romantic Italian villa in the heart of Westchester, “La Quercia” is a sprawling 5,000-plus square-foot home set on over three acres of wooded land in Croton-on-Hudson, perfect for everyday living or a relaxing weekend getaway.

Originally built in 1930 for the famous industrialist William Timken, whose son of the same name was the U.S. Ambassador to Germany from 2005 to 2008, the expansive home is comprised of beautiful Venetian plaster walls, custom wrought-iron work on windows and doors, and a terracotta roof. Featured throughout the house are rare and magnificent stained glass windows, which homeowner Pat Gallo says is part of what attracted him to the estate. “My favorite part of the house is definitely in the details, the stained-glass windows, and the intricate trim work,” says Gallo, whose family has lived in the house for the past four years. “I love the design aspect of real estate, and it’s definitely that old stained glass that caught my eye.” The stained glass was created by the renowned Rohlf’s Stained & Leaded Glass Studio in Mount Vernon. The designer, artist Owen Bonawit, also designed the stained glass pieces featured throughout Yale University.

The beauty of the “La Quercia” estate extends further than the home’s architecture. The park-like property includes a heated in-ground pool, an English garden with roses and climbing wisteria, sweeping lawns, and patios perfect for summertime parties.

4 bedrooms | 4.5 baths | 5,010 square feet  | $1,895,000
