What’s to like?
What does a renowned developer of high-end homes in the Hamptons build for himself? A luxurious blend of everything he and his family could possibly desire and then some. A unique custom design (courtesy of developer and homeowner Jay Bialsky) that makes the kitchen the hands-down focal point of the home. “My wife loves to cook and the kitchen is 100% the epicenter of family life for us,” Bialsky explains. “We came up with a way to make it the most important room in this house.” Instead of a double-height foyer typical of many Westchester homes, Bialsky opted for a unique turnabout and created double-height space in an extra-spacious, sophisticated chef’s kitchen, while still managing to keep the space warm (yes, there’s even a fireplace), inviting, and, most importantly, practical. “We feel the kitchen is special because it is the largest room in the house with a 30-foot high barreled ceiling,” he says. “The kitchen is not only extremely functional and very dramatic, it also offers a very warm feeling for entertaining.”
He also incorporated the ultimate man-cave, outfitted with all the essentials—a bar, media room, billiard room, and 2,000-bottle wine cellar. Other special features: a custom professional gym, home theater, and a sophisticated spa master bath with an oversized shower with two full rainheads that, Bialsky says “has completely spoiled us.”
