Seeing a need in the market for a combination styling/upscale consignment business, Jessica Moran and Lisa Dorsett decided to open Luxe in Chappaqua last May. Moran and Dorsett, who met six years ago, knew their symbiotic relationship would work well for a consignment business. At Luxe, Moran is the jewelry expert, while Dorsett focuses on high-end handbags and clothing. They pride themselves on knowing how to match buyers and sellers, and they often hear things like, “I feel like I’m in my best friend’s amazing closet” from clients. Their customer base is wide-ranging, as is their merchandise. High-end brands include Hermès and Chanel, whose bags can range from $1,500 to $15,000, while merchandise from lower-priced high-end brands, such as Celine, Valentino, and Louis Vuitton, can range from $1,000 to $3,000. The two treat their clients as friends and will let them know when favorite items arrive.
