Low-Cost Ideas For Kitchen Redesigns

“We worked on a kitchen that had perfectly serviceable cabinets but they were old fashioned, so we spray-painted them white, replaced the counter with a nice quartz, got some lovely subway tiles on sale, made a few little repairs and it looked like a brand new kitchen,” says Susan Anthony of Anthony & Olanow Design Group in Rye. “We also installed wood rollout drawers from The Container Store in the closets and it made a huge difference.”

Jackie Cutler of Jacqueline D. Cutler in Scarsdale recommends you simply change the hardware on the cabinets for a quick fix. “The hardware is like the jewelry of the kitchen,” she says. “ Also, change the window treatments or a light fixture—anything that gives or catches light—will update your look.”

Gail Sirota of GLS Design in New Rochelle suggests: “If you have a kitchen where the cabinets and countertops are in good condition, you can just change the backsplash and the hardware to change the look of the kitchen.”
