Lisa Rosenberg, 29

Product Development Senior Scientist, PepsiCo

Lisa Rosenberg always loved being in the kitchen. In her teens, she watched a lot of cooking shows, and when she got older, she worked in restaurants. “But the life of a chef is not what I wanted,” she says. She was also good in science, so the Corning, NY, native combined the two, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in food science. “It’s the best of both worlds,” says Rosenberg.

Now, as a product development senior scientist on PepsiCo’s global citrus team, she is the lead product developer for several global products. “A typical day is being on the bench, formulating, putting documents together, tasting the products to make sure they meet internal standards, and collaborating with my partners around the globe,” she says. In 2017, Rosenberg completed a six-month assignment in the United Arab Emirates, launching two Quaker Oats products there.

She’s twice been selected an outstanding section volunteer with the Institute of Food Technologists and currently serves as the chair of the New York section, which has more than 1,000 members. She also finds time to mentor a high school student in Yonkers.

And if that isn’t enough to keep her busy, Rosenberg recently completed her second master’s, in business administration, at Fordham. The MBA, she says, “is the complement to make me understand the business needs better.”

Her goal is to move into management, perhaps in R&D. “I’d love to be a VP one day,” she says.
