AM Eats
A few weeks ago I wrote a post recommending Primary Food & Drink in Greenwich, CT, as the latest on my short list of quality brunch destinations. Well the short list is growing once again (perhaps I will have to start calling it the not-so-short list)—L’inizio in Ardsley, Scott and Heather Fratangelo’s narrow Italian eatery where seemingly everything is house-made, now serves brunch Sundays 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Order a la carte (mains are $11-$15) or try the two-course prix fixe at $20.95 that includes a Bloody Mary or seasonal Mimosa. Starters include celery and arugula salad with Medjool dates, walnuts, and Gorgonzola; smoked Hudson Valley ricotta with acacia honey and crispy prosciutto; and arancini with sopressatta, Gorgonzola, and oven dried tomato aioli. Entrées to try are the eggs in purgatory (pictured below) with guanciale, potato, and tomato sauce; frittata of the day with arugula salad; and house-made brioche French toast (pictured above) with caramelized apples, apple butter, and Crown maple syrup. And if brunch isn’t too early in the day for a tipple, try a Manhattan or other house-made cocktail from the mini oak casks that line the shelf over the mini three-seat bar.
