One of the more eagerly anticipated benefits of the year, this gala to support Copland House in Cortlandt Manor (Aaron Copland’s home for his last 30 years, now a nonprofit music institution) pairs a chef and composer, introducing each course of a meal with part of a musical work—can you think of a more delightful idea? Past chefs have included Daniel Boulud and Eric Ripert. At this year’s gala, The Awakened Palate, on October 12, Lidia Bastianich will cook a specially created meal at her Manhattan restaurant Del Posto, paired with a new piece by renowned composer (and former Copland House resident) Daniel Brewbaker, played by the acclaimed Music from Copland House ensemble. The theme, naturally, is the seasons, tastes, and sounds of Italy. This is sure to sell out, so if you want to go, get your tickets now.
