Lauren Peter, who works at Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, captured the Women’s Met Open championship at the start of her career.
Lauren Peter, a native of Carmel, located just north of Westchester in Putnam County, started her career as a professional golfer with a big bang, winning the 2023 Women’s Met Open Championship played at Essex Falls CC in New Jersey. Peter, who graduated last spring from Ohio State, turned professional after graduation and is working at Whippoorwill Club in Armonk as an assistant pro.
Peter was the only competitor in the tournament to finish under par over the two days. She brought home the trophy with a 36-hole total of 1-under par 145.
Catherine McEvoy of Innis Arden Golf Club finished two strokes behind Peter to capture second place while Jean Bartholomew of Engineers CC won the Senior Division with three birdies in the final round to finish seven over par.
