​Casino Player Magazine Names Empire City Casino “Best Casino” in the Northeast

Casino Player Magazine, based in Las Vegas, Nevada, announced the results of its annual reader survey, awarding Empire City the Best Casino in the “Racino” category. The casino also snagged the top spot in the Best Reel Slots, Casino Where You Feel the Luckiest, and Casino With the Best Facebook Page categories.

Quorum Federal Credit Union Wins “Best in Class” in International Website Competition

Quorum Federal Credit Union (Westchester Magazine interviewed the company for tips on how to create a better workplace here) received the Interactive Media Awards’ (IMA) “Best in Class” award in the Financial Information category for its newly redesigned website. The Best in Class award is the highest honor bestowed by the IMA, given to participants exemplifying the very best in online planning, execution, and overall professionalism. Competition participants were judged based on five criteria: design, content, feature functionality, usability, and standards compliance. “We’re thrilled our website was recognized by the IMA,” said Kimberly Schade, vice president of Marketing and Member Services at Quorum. “Last year, we decided to create an enhanced, fresh, and modern member experience… To achieve this, we launched a refreshed brand, new website, and new online and mobile banking platform that together represents a user-friendly and functional banking offering on par with any financial institution’s in the industry. The IMA award is validation that we’re on the right path.”

Westchester Residential Opportunities Receives Housing Award

Westchester Residential Opportunities, Inc., a not-for-profit housing counseling agency certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development that serves more than 7,000 individuals and families a year, received the 8th-annual Stanley Schear Leadership Award on Tuesday, September 16. Geoffrey Anderson, WRO’s executive director, accepted the award. “The Schear Award recognizes organizations that have made meaningful contributions to improve people’s lives through fair and affordable housing and services,” said County Executive Rob Astorino. “I thank WRO for its continued partnership, working alongside county government to make sure people continue to live and prosper in Westchester.”
