An Inside Scoop on Westchester’s Economy

On June 8, Westchester County Association (WCA) members will have the exclusive opportunity to hear Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano discuss economic development and job creation. Mayor Spano has kickstarted Yonkers’ economic engine with innovative projects, welcoming new businesses across the city and nurturing hundreds of new tech jobs. Eat and Connect

Start your day networking with like-minded professionals, making connections, developing your personal brand, and generating new business opportunities before heading to the office at the Westchester Network for Professionals’ (WNFP) Early Bird Connections. This event is an opportunity for early birds to interact with other business professionals while enjoying breakfast and an educational session aimed at helping grow your business. Additionally, Marty Rolnick of The Idea Maker will present on “How to Stand Out and Yet Fit In at the Same Time.” Dave & Buster’s in Pelham will host this networking opportunity from 8-10 am on June 8. Businesswomen Unite!

Professional women will have the opportunity to enhance their business skills and bring value to their organizations and to their careers at the 2nd Annual Woman’s Leadership Summit at Manhattanville College’s Reid Castle from 8:30 am-6 pm on June 8. Interactive learning experiences and discussions will focus on key topics including leadership, business development, strategic planning, diversity, networking, communication, relaunching careers, and more. Speakers include Dr. Jenne K. Britell, the Chairman of the Board of United Rentals, Inc., the world’s largest equipment rental company, and Carol Fishman Cohen, CEO and co-founder of iRelaunch, a leader in the career re-entry space. Additionally, there will be special presentations by Catalyst, Inc. on what makes a great manager, and by Poker Divas, which will help conference attendees gain an edge in business and life by learning assertiveness, leadership, and negotiating skills through the strategies and excitement of poker. Celebrate Green Businesses 

The 6th Annual Westchester Green Business (WGB) Challenge Recognition Event and Awards Ceremony will take place on June 8 from 5-7:30 pm at The Briarcliff Manor. Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and President and CEO of the Business Council of Westchester, Dr. Marsha Gordon, will host the event, honoring Westchester’s Green Business Leaders. Find Fame at Gedney Way

Join Professional Women of Westchester (PWW) on June 20 for a workshop titled “Getting Famous: How to Get Known, Get Seen and Get Profitable.” The event will feature guest speaker Monica Shah, President of Revenue Breakthrough. The workshop will focus on the secret to getting known and how you can systematically set up five-minute processes each week to increase your lead flow, and find your ideal clients, prospects, and consumers without wasting your time. This workshop will take place at Sam’s of Gedney Way in White Plains from 6-8 pm. Admission will cost $15 for PWW members and $20 for non-members. Let’s Talk TAMI

The Business Council of Westchester has announced a new event series that focuses on one of the fastest growing sectors of the regional economy. Called TAMI Talks, the series will explore the latest trends in Technology, Advertising, Media and Information (TAMI). The new series, which the BCW is presenting in partnership with Manhattanville College, premieres on June 20 at Manhattanville with an interview with Don Callahan, Head of Global Operations and Technology at Citigroup. Callahan is the Executive Chair of the Chief Information Officer Council, which sets global standards for all technology throughout Citi, and leads the Digital Governance Office, which drives digital transformation across Citi’s businesses. A study by New York City Economic Development Corp. showed the TAMI sector employs more than 330,000 professionals in New York City alone with the numbers continuing to grow. The demand for TAMI jobs is booming with annual salaries averaging more than $125,000.  TAMI is also a significant factor in the commercial office market.
