Esteemed tastemaker Joanna Buchanan is often tapped by the local community for her keen sense of design — the Wilton, CT-based visionary often acts as a judge for Westchester Home’s annual Design Awards.
Her eponymous collection of home decor and accessories found on her website and at Neiman Marcus, White Plains showcase her worldly travels and her signature love for bumblebees.
For the month of May, Buchanan is partnering with the NYC-based non-profit organization Women in Need for an annual “Month of Giving” Campaign. A portion of sales on joannabuchanan.com will support Women in Need and their programs.
“When we think about our partners for the month of May, we want to support a charity that revolves around women, so we are always on the lookout for a local organization that can lift women up,” Buchanan says. “As WIN continues to empower women so they can get their independence back and support their children, I thought what better way to give something extra to these women with special circumstances during the Mother’s Day season.”
She continues: “We have been aware of WIN for a while now but when we got on the phone to speak to Chris Valens, a Director at WIN, he was so articulate and clear about the specific work they do and how they support women (and their children) who invariably arrive at one of the centers having suffered from some sort of trauma,” she says. “We knew this was an organization that was directly helping women get back on their feet. And we know, as women and mothers, that we all need a little help sometimes.”
Meanwhile, Buchanan is continuously expanding to her collection of home accessories. “We have a lot of new beach and summer inspired tabletop — just need the sun to come out!,” she says, adding that she is looking forward to Holiday ‘22 barware. “We have some really exciting brand new barware products that are going to make amazing gifts.”
