Lange’s Deli
57 Spencer Pl
(914) 472-0330

Parkway Coffee Shop
52 E Parkway
(914) 723-9008

“This place knows to stick with what it’s good at: It doesn’t serve any burnt bagel-shop coffee—you’ll need to make another stop—just crusty-on-the-outside, steamy-on-the-inside classic bagels,” Sexton says. “Be swell and get a dozen to share with your officemates.”

The kitchen closes super-late, too—so it’s perfect for when you’ve been burning the midnight oil.”

And BTW…
A few fun facts about Scarsdale.

· Caleb Heathcote of Scarsdale, Derbyshire, England, purchased land throughout Westchester and in 1701, after becoming influential in the government of the province, made the lands a royal manor. Heathcote decided to name the area Scarsdale after his ancestral home, which means “dale of scars or rocks.”
· James Fenimore Cooper, author of The Last of the Mohicans, married a great-granddaughter of Caleb Heathcote and lived on the Angevine Farm on Mamaroneck Road. After hearing tales of the American Revolution from John Jay, Cooper wrote The Spy while living in Scarsdale.
· In 1952, Scarsdale became the scene of a national controversy when the Scarsdale Citizens Community (also known as the “Committee of Ten”) led by Otto Dohrenwend claimed “Communist infiltration” in the public school system.
· Former U.S. Secretary of State and longtime resident Dean Rusk returned to Scarsdale in 1967, during the peak of the Vietnam War, to accept the town’s Man of the Year Award, and was met with a silent protest.
· Scarsdale was the center of the landmark Supreme Court case ACLU v. Scarsdale (1985), which led to the “reindeer rule” dealing with public nativity scenes. The decision clarified when religious groups could position crèches on public property.
