Every year, The Business Council of Westchester honors a new crop of the business community’s rising stars with its 40 Under 40 Awards. The 40 honorees this year — the 10th anniversary of the awards — work for businesses including Faros Properties, Cuddy & Feder LLP, Heineken USA, and Con Edison. Nearly 400 people joined the reception on June 10 at Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway to help honor this year’s stars.

Event Chairs Louis and Kylie Cappelli and Gae and Ron Getlan during the American Cancer Society’s Diamond Casino Royale Gala at The Ritz-Carlton, Westchester, on May 31, where the Cappelli family was honored with the Society’s Leadership Award in memory of Concetta and Luca Cappelli.
Event Co-Chairs Renee Jordan Torre, Muffin Dowdle, and Deirdre Farrell at the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester’s 19th annual Humanitarian Award Dinner, which raised more than $450,000, benefitting the Club’s scholarship initiative and educational programs for its 2,000 youth members.
Bedford Post’s co-owner Richard Gere and executive chef Jeremy McMillan of Farmhouse at Bedford Post served up some food at the Citymeals-on-Wheels Chef’s Tribute “Rumble at the Rock” at Rockefeller Center, an event that helped raise $820,000 for Citymeals-on-Wheels.
Jim Coleman of the Westchester IDA; John Ravitz, senior vice president of The Business Council of Westchester; Iain Falconer, chef of Cooper’s Mill; Tom Szymanowicz, general manager of Cooper’s Mill; Dan Conte, general manager of the Westchester Marriott; Kevin Morgan, Greenburgh town council member; Judith Beville, Greenburgh town clerk; and Kevin Plunkett, deputy Westchester County executive at the May 30 opening of Cooper’s Mill in Tarrytown.
Boscobel was the site of the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival’s “Swing into Summer” gala on June 8. And swing they did, as the 300-or-so guests danced to the music of the Alex Donner Orchestra. But dancing wasn’t the only highlight of the evening, as the guests also enjoyed specially designed cocktails on the Great Lawn, a Sotheby’s-led live auction, featuring members of the HVSF Acting Company, and a buffet dinner. Everyone had a great night, and the event helped raise nearly $200,000 for the HVSF.

On June 7, the Knights of York held their 9th Annual Black Tie Gala & Auction, “A Knight at The Plaza,” during which Dr. Kathy Reilly Fallon, founder and chairwoman of Heavenly Productions Foundation, pictured here with her mother, Anne Reilly, received the Lawrence Ferrara Children’s Advocate Award.

On June 6, more than 200 people attended Sheldrake Environmental Center’s fundraising gala, “Party on the Pond—Putting Sheldrake on the Map,” an event that raised $50,000 for Sheldrake. Pictured is John Brenkovich, Sheldrake board treasurer, with Wendy Weinstein Karp and Matthew Karp, owners of Plates in Larchmont, who were honored for their outstanding commitments to the community and environment.
UJA-Federation of New York’s Westchester Region recently honored Michael and Ellen Brown, Rabbi Lester Bronstein, and Karen and Edward Friedman for their leadership in the Westchester Jewish community. More than 500 people attended the event at Brae Burn Country Club.
