As these stunning Westchester offices spaces prove, working remotely is so much better with a professional aesthetic to match.
– Major Monochrome –
This home office in Chappaqua, designed by Lulu Home, was elevated by layering moody, monochromatic gray tones. Striving for both form and function, custom cabinetry has the same dark tones; it hides files, a printer, and supplies. All of the chairs swivel, so guests can adjust their viewpoint, and there is a laptop perch under the light-filled window.
– Like a Boss –
A previously unused seating area in this Larchmont home was remodeled by Barrett Oswald of Barrett Oswald Designs into a striking workspace that demands attention. The room was designed around a tribal-pattern wallpaper that sets the tone for the rest of the space. Large windows, dark trim, and built-in bookshelves add to the drama, while the leather, wood, and archways pull in the feel of the home and allow this space to naturally flow into adjacent spaces.
– Double Duty –
This Armonk home office is used by both spouses so it needed to be a room they could enjoy together. Wendy Strauss of Strauss House Designs created a space that would flow with the rest of the home, putting together a look that is earthy: warm tones including creams and browns, plus inviting accessories and furnishings. She started with the two-toned oak custom cabinetry, which compliments the rest of the design.
– Power Coupling –
A Scarsdale couple needed an organized and bright space where they could both work from home, with two workstations and lots of storage. They also wanted the space to double as a den for watching TV and movies. Claire Paquin of Clean Design Partners had the solutions: An L-shaped built-in contains two desks with plenty of drawers and cabinets in between. One wall has upper bookshelves, where objects and art can be neatly displayed. Metallic turquoise-and-chartreuse dragonfly wallpaper makes the room feel unique.
– White & Bright –
This Scarsdale home office was designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The homeowners wanted it be to a place to hang out outside the main living areas, notes designer Monica Kahn. It was set up so that multiple family members could take advantage of the large workspace, or the kids could lounge while Mom and Dad were working. The built-in desk and cabinetry were designed for maximum surface area, shelving for books, and overhead storage for supplies. The TV has its own spot within the shelving, and a drawer keeps a printer out of sight.
– Gorgeous in Gray –
After living in their Harrison home for more than 20 years, this couple decided it was time to renovate their office/family-room combo. Designer Tara Kantor brought new life into the space, melding both masculine and feminine elements, to marry the spouses’ respective styles. A custom sofa, new built-ins, bold artwork, and raffia-textured wallpaper did the trick. Although the room is dark in color, it gets great light, thanks to a large window and the addition of extra lighting.
