Does your special someone spend more time in the kitchen than the living room? Can they pair every dish with the perfect wine? Do they (rightly) add bacon to everything?

Odds are good, then, that you love a foodie. This year, if you’re feeling like their wish list might be a little above your ken, consider picking up a gift basket of local goodies tailor-made (butcher-cut?) for your discerning dearest.

For the Carnivore

Let’s get the bacon lovers out of the way first. And what better way to do that than with Jacüterie, the handcrafted charcuterie from right here in the Hudson Valley? Based out of Ancramdale, Jacüterie can be found at our favorite winter farmers’ markets like Pleasantville Farmers’ Market. The bacon is cured with flavors like maple syrup and wildflower honey, and both the dry-cured and regular sausages are out of this world. Just in time for the holidays, Jacüterie has officially opened its online store to ship salami right to your door! Try a two-pack for $30 or a sampler box of three or four varieties for only $55-$65.

If for some reason you want to add some non-meat to your gift bag this year, you can’t go wrong tapping Beacon Pantry for some ideas. Not only does the market offer a fabulous charcuterie selection (including cheeses and non-meat snackables), but the friendly staff will work with you to craft the perfect pairing. The Hudson Valley shop also has a selection of gift totes filled with items your foodie will love. You can pick it up yourself or get it delivered in a few days.

For the One Who Adds Spice to Your Life

For the home chef, nothing beats trying out a new recipe. Give the gift that keeps on giving in a grab bag of spices and seasonings from Twisted Branch in Valhalla. With more than sixty hand-blended spices, sea salts, and cane sugars – plus a bevy of extra-virgin and infused olive oils and vinegar on tap — Twisted Branch makes it easy to craft a Grade-A gift basket that will please both your partner and your palate.

For the Party Animal

There’s one at every family holiday and you know exactly who I mean: the boisterous party animal who just lives for social engagement. If this was the person you drew in secret Santa, fret not, since you can get them a glorious bounty of highly pop-able snacks and finger foods with a traditional Stew Leonard’s gift basket. The “Taste of Bethy’s Bakery Gift Basket” includes a variety of cookies, freshly popped caramel popcorn, handmade peppermint bark, and an assortment box of brownies — basically enough sugar to keep you up to see who it is up on the rooftop!

For the Local Liquor Lover

Captain Lawrence’s Elmsford distillery, Current Spirits, is bringing back its bourbon gift sets. They come in three different casks, including Oloroso, Pedro Ximenez, and Amontillado. The blend sets are accompanied by two Current highball glasses and a flask. You can also get them a mixed box with all three and a tasting glass instead.

Speaking of local favorites, just a ways north in Beacon sits the Dennings Point Distillery. Not only is the distillery making some of the most award-winning spirits around here (Best of Hudson Valley winners three years running, San Francisco World Spirit Competition, etc.), it’s also crafting some of the best bourbons and brandies period. Rightfully, the drinks are available at a plethora of wine and spirit shops in the region.

For the Loco-Oenophile

Don’t think we forgot about the wine lovers on your list. For those of us looking to go red and white for the holidays, consider a lovely gift set from Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, just a ways north. The Hudson Valley’s unique terroir leads to some delicious Pinot Noirs, Chradonnays, Reislings, Cabernets, and even an Italian-style Tocai Friulano!

If you really want to stick close to home, however, head to South Salem Winery for small batches of wines made right here in Westchester County. You can pick up a few bottles any day of the week at Gossett Brothers Nursery, or visit the winery itself to take in the full breadth of a “micro winery.” With no batch or vintage exceeding around 300 bottles, every sip is guaranteed to be a unique gift.

For the One With a Sweet Tooth

Of course candy is the answer here, but why not go the extra mile? With Bedford’s BobbyPop, you can customize your candy to your liking, expressing a personal message or a festive celebration. Recently founded by five sisters from Westchester and named after their dad, BobbyPop’s mail order candy boxes are the perfect detail to satisfy your foodie’s sweet tooth. Choose the acrylic box size, candy color combinations, and your personalized message of up to 10 characters or choose from the go-to options if you can’t decide.
