Nothing is certain yet, but the Clinton campaign trail seems to be starting in Brooklyn Heights, not White Plains as had been rumored.
Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff, signed a lease for offices on two floors of 1 Pierrepont Plaza in Brooklyn Heights, as first reported by Politico on Friday. Though a bit of a disappointment to those hoping to see a Westchester-based campaign, it is exciting news for the Ready for Hillary crowd; Federal Election Committee rules state that a person has 15 days to announce their candidacy after conducting campaign activities, such as leasing campaign headquarters.
This news comes early in the 2016 presidential race, on the heels of Republican Senator Ted Cruz’s recent announcement of his official bid to be his party’s candidate.
Clinton has also been reported to be expanding her press team and plans on joining Cruz in Iowa sooner rather than later, as her aides have already begun work there.
While no official announcements or details of a Clinton bid have yet been revealed, she’s already a front runner in several swing states according to recent polling.
