Here's That Old-School Pork Butcher You've Been Searching For

It’s back to the Bronx, with Italian basics at this butcher shop and caterer.

Doug Tucci felt there wasn’t a good, old-school pork store in Westchester like he had growing up in the Bronx. That’s why he opened Fiamma Pork Store, a full-service butcher and pork shop in Harrison. His focus is on bringing back what’s been lost over the years — a neighborhood spot where the meat is cut on the spot, just to your liking.

The shop specializes in local pork, prime beef, poultry, and imported prosciutto. “We do a lot of the stuff you don’t see anymore,” he says. “We make our own pancetta, capocollo, guanciale, and mozzarella.” Fiamma is also known for their homemade sausage, hand-cranked right in the window of the shop.

Tucci grew up in restaurants, and his history as a chef lends credence to why Fiamma’s prepared foods are so popular among its customers. They make rubs and sauces — everything from marinara to Bolognese to barbecue. They have freshly prepared meatballs, sandwiches, and a full rotisserie.

“This place brings back tradition,” says Tucci. “The days are lost when someone would go to a butcher shop. Now, everything comes out of your freezer. If we can bring back tradition, even a little bit, I think that’s important.”
