12 Virtual Fitness Classes to Get You up and Moving

Share

Staying home doesn’t have to mean your New Year’s resolutions go out the window. These online classes show you don’t have to hit the gym to stay active.

Let’s be honest. You probably weren’t planning on going to the gym before staying home was the socially responsible thing. Or, hey, maybe you were actually one of those amazing people who wake up early and get in some cardio at the crack of dawn. Either way, unless you have a home gym, odds are that fitness regimen is now different with all local gyms and studios closed due to COVID-19.

Don’t worry, though. We’re here to help you get up off the couch (sorry) and back on your feet!

Artistry Dance Project

141 Tompkins Ave, Pleasantville
914.579.2272
After Broadway and non-essential businesses closed back-to-back, this Pleasantville dance studio did a pirouette – er, we mean a 180º — and launched a full digital platform with more than 75 hours of content spread across more than 200 videos, plus 30 livestreamed classes each week to keep their staff of 13 professional dancers all employed. The school’s 300-plus students can still attend regular classes, which makes this an ideal program to sign your kids up for to burn through some of that energy.

BREATHE Pilates and Yoga

14 South Greeley Ave, Chappaqua
914.238.0184
This Pilates and yoga studio has transitioned its classes to teleconferencing, providing as many as eight 45 to 60-minute classes daily. Sessions include Pilates, slow flow yoga, Vinyasa, meditation, dedicated abdominal workouts, and more. The studio even offers 15-minute “freebie” classes to help users get a taste of what to expect from the full sessions.

Fused Fitness

3631 Hill Blvd, Jefferson Valley
914.246.0457

This up-county gym has started hosting online classes for its members and posting short instructional videos and even recipes to its social media channels, and even has a podcast. Classes are typically twice a day, Monday through Friday, for 45 minutes. Single classes start at $25, or you can pick up the 6-week Healthy Habits virtual course for $129. If you’re going for a package deal, make sure to sign up for a 7-day free trial! The team is also running a Fit Mom Sweepstakes raffling off four weeks of personal online training and meal plans (a $499 value).

Sun’s out, guns out. 💪 . . Have we made that joke already? We don’t know, time is an illusion. What day is it? 😐 . . Grab your mini-band and head out into the ☀️ to hit this push/pull lil’ workout! . . For each move, place band around your wrists and push against the inside of the band, putting as much tension on the band as you possibly can. 💥 . 1. Bent Over Rows: slide your hips back and pull your elbows back toward your spine, then let your arms come forward, but keep tension on that band! . 2. Lat Pulldowns: start with your arms overhead and pull your elbows down toward your pockets, and—you guessed it—keep pushing against that band on the way up, too, to get the most bang for your buck on these! 💵 . 3. Triceps Pushdowns: keep your elbows pinned to your sides and push your forearms toward the ground with your palms facing downward, feeling some heat in the back of your arms! 🔥 . 4. Banded Push-Ups/Modified Push-Ups: head into your high plank position, keeping your wrists under your shoulders as you lower your body toward the ground—keep your elbows close to your sides! . Do 3-4 sets of 10 reps of each movement, your arms, back and shoulders will be SCREAMIN’. 😱 . . . . #westchester #westchesterny #yorktown #yorktownheights #jeffersonvalley #somers #mahopac #katonah #putnamcounty #northernwestchester #fitness #westchesterfitness #smallgrouptraining #onlinetraining #virtualtraining #fitness #fusedfitness #fusedfit #fusedfitfam #spreadlove
