London-born Jennifer Hoertz, who was raised in New York and graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, has been making hats since 1994, when she launched her first collection at Barney’s New York. Though Hoertz, who says hats “are a 3D work of art,” is technically based just outside of Westchester, in Brewster, her creations — which are available internationally and have appeared in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, InStyle, and elsewhere — are sold and much-loved right here in the county.
