Hair Saloon & Café in Scarsdale and Giselle Elissa Hair Studio in Yonkers are full-service salons open for cuts, color, and more.
While sitting in a massage chair, a craft libation in hand, a hotel towel is draped over your shoulders as a skilled stylist double-cleanses your hair with a luxury shampoo from France. Then, you’re whisked away to a private styling station — six feet apart from the others — for a cut, color, and blow-dry. Sound divine? This is the experience at Scarsdale’s new Hair Saloon & Café (862 Scarsdale Ave), where the slogan is: “Come for the haircut; stay for the cocktails.”
The inventive concept, created by White Plains resident Danielle Settembre, is part hair salon, part bar/café — and entirely a place to get glam while socializing. The Paris-trained Settembre, a former lead stylist at (the now defunct) Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon, didn’t skimp on any luxury — or safety measure — when designing the space during the pandemic. The salon is separated from the quaint café by a glass wall; stations are six feet apart; and sinks for washes have plastic dividers.
Settembre worked in restaurants while growing up, so she was inspired to create a full-service salon with a culinary twist. Her café, which sports an industrial vibe, offers a full-service liquor bar (seating for 12) and serves craft cocktails, coffee, espresso, and snacks, which can be enjoyed either in the salon or on the outdoor patio, during the warmer months.
Farther down-county, celebrity stylist Giselle Macri opened a full-service salon in August: Giselle Elissa Hair Studio (644 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers). NYC-trained Macri has more than a decade of experience styling models, actors, news anchors, and political figures. She and her skilled team share their expertise with clients to help enhance their natural beauty. Services include cut, color, and makeup; luxurious shiatsu shampoo and back massages are complimentary. The Yonkers native’s eponymous salon is chic, bright, and airy, and boasts an adjacent parking lot (hard to find on the busy avenue).
