The Metropolitan Golf Association’s newest event at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale welcomes amateurs of all ages and abilities.

Big hitters will stretch out their big-boy and big-girl swings at the newest Metropolitan Golf Association event, the Lexus Long Drive championship, Thursday, September 30, at the Bethpage Polo Field at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale. The event, open to amateurs of all ages and abilities, will mirror the long drive tournaments gaining popularity across the nation the last few years.

“We are looking forward to bringing the Lexus Long Drive Championship to life this September,” says Chris Gaffney, MGA Director of Championships. “Driving distance is a hot topic amongst competitive golfers and weekend warriors alike, and this is an opportunity for men and women to show off their skills off the tee in a unique format that doesn’t currently exist in the Met Area.”

The championship is open to male and female amateurs age 12 and older. Participants will compete for their respective age division titles, and all participants will be entered to win the overall Men’s and Women’s Championships. Following the conclusion of scheduled play, the top two male and female participants will play-off for the title and the opportunity to win the Lexus Long Drive Championship belts.

In addition to the open competition, there are three age divisions, including the Girls/Boys Division for players not yet 16. Those players are also eligible for the male and female Junior divisions, which is for golfers not yet 19 and not yet attending college. The Mid-Am Division is for male and female golfers 30 years of age and older. All players in the competition are eligible for the overall championship.

Registration is now open at mgagolf.org. The entry fee is $50 per player, which includes a tee gift from Vineyard Vines and Ahead.
