Hey! I Need To Borrow This … GolfBoard?

Ride through the Links at Union Vale, Marty McFly style.

GolfBoard is the latest addition to the golf experience at the Links at Union Vale and, even if it weren’t an excellent golf course to play (which it is), the club’s Golfboards make it worth the short drive to Lagraneville in Dutchess County.

Simply put, the GolfBoard is the best way to get around a golf course since they invented feet. Riding one will speed up your round, give you a workout, and brighten your day all at the same time.

Best of all, it’s really just as easy as it looks in the video. You strap your clubs firmly in front, step on the spacious board, and push the throttle with your thumb to start moving (just release it to come to a smooth stop). You steer pretty much like you do on a bicycle, by leaning in the direction you want to go. It’s so intuitive that a quick trial around the Links at Union Vale parking lot will give you all the confidence you need.

Equipment geeks may want to know that industrial strength electric motors powered by a lithium-ion battery drive separate front and back gear boxes with four-wheel posi-traction capability. The eleven-inch tires are four inches wide so they minimize turf wear — and allow you to ride right up to the green and tee box without impact. And they’re quiet, too!

The GolfBoard speeds up play by taking you directly to your ball, just as if you were walking with a caddie. No more driving your cart to your partner’s ball, waiting for him to take six practice swings before he chunks his ball into the water, then driving to your ball on the other side of the fairway to start the process over again.

Another huge advantage GolfBoard has over golf carts is the workout you’ll get. Not as much as carrying a bag and walking, but you’ll be surprised how much exercise you get just steering it around by shifting your weight from side to side.

The best feature of the GolfBoard experience, though is the amount of fun you’ll have tootling around the course. It’s tough and stable, so you can tackle hills and moguls with confidence and even ride through the rough should your ball happen to find it.

A word of warning: you’ll need to reserve you GolfBoard at the Links in advance — they go quick!  Rental is only $22 for 18 holes.
