Pale-pink makeup is like a floral pattern for spring — predictable and, as Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada might say, not particularly groundbreaking. But make that pink a hot pink, and you’ve got yourself a trend. Runway looks for spring style featured classic pastels but also bold makeup, and bold eyes, in particular.
Vividly colored eyeliner or shadow and foil lips are both the craze this season. Makeup artist Angela Connell at Eiluj Beauty Lounge (119 Katonah Ave, Katonah; www.eilujbeauty.com) explains how to make what might be a dramatic look more wearable day-to-day, with Julie Cuomo’s new makeup line, Eiluj, available at the Katonah studio. Cover the eyelid with Eiluj’s hot-pink blush (instead of eyeshadow) and outline the eye with coal eyeliner, to make the vivid color pop. Keep foundation and blush minimal, with a little blush and dust bronzer for a sun-kissed glow in anticipation of summer. As metallic lips are the rage, a more understated way to attain a shimmery look is Eiluj’s glitter lip gloss — an ideal way to transition from a day to night look.
