The Formula MedSpa Offers Personalized Skincare in Rye

Known for her leading approach to skincare, Nicole Frontera is bringing her talents (and syringes) up north.

Nicole Frontera knows a thing or two about skin. The family nurse practitioner and master cosmetic injector has worked with some of the world’s top cosmetic surgeons, curating an arsenal of fine-tuned skills that make skincare a palatable concept for her patients. Originally planting her “Queen of Injectables” flag in Rockaway Beach, Frontera is spreading the love (and the Botox) with the opening of her Rye location, The Formula MedSpa.

Frontera’s calling card is the Natural Needle Lift, a service she thoughtfully curates for the needs and skin of each customer; not just a cookie-cutter procedure she offers to anyone who walks through the door. The procedure was created for, “those looking to achieve facial symmetry and youthfulness without compromising their unique features,” and is broken out by age. “Not everyone needs the same recipe,” says Frontera. “We treat everything with a holistic approach. It’s about the whole person.”

Like a sculptor to a slab of marble, Frontera artfully incorporates a combination of needle-based treatments, adding just the correct amount of neurotoxins, fillers, and threads tailored to the skin. “Someone in their 20s isn’t going to have the same needs as someone in their 50s,” says Frontera. For that 24-year-old, the name of the game is prevention, and maintaining current collagen levels to look youthful, longer. Frontera’s course of action is on the less-extreme side, hence a “light dusting” of baby Botox or a lip fill. In the case of a 52-year-old who is looking for noticeable change but not quite ready for a facelift, Frontera comes to the rescue with a two-step process that not only saves the client from surgery but addresses all the signs of aging on everything above the collarbones.

While there’s a natural hesitation to sprint into the abyss of fillers and flips, Frontera remains brutally honest with anyone who comes into her med spa — even if it’s advising them against what they walked in for. “I’m not putting anything in anyone that I wouldn’t do to myself.” In Frontera’s eyes, she should be one of the last stops on one’s own skincare journey.

“Skincare starts at home,” she says. “You want to paint on a clean white canvas, and the better you take care of your canvas, the better I can paint you.” Frontera recommends dedication to a skincare routine that is supported by medical-grade products, that way the active ingredients are penetrating the skin instead of just sitting on top of it. That routine shouldn’t stop following a treatment from The Formula MedSpa — it should amp up. “Protect your investment,” Frontera says. And because the skin is the body’s first line of defense, upkeep is key.
