We often think of heading to an urgent-care facility as a last resort, but the spa-like setting of Formé Urgent Care (7-11 S Broadway, White Plains 914-723-4900; www.formeurgentcare.com) might have you thinking otherwise.
Formé aims to pull together resources to address all of your wellness needs under one roof, with doctors in different specialties (endocrinology, pain management, podiatry, pulmonology, urology, dermatology, and nutrition, among others); a full blood lab; a radiology department; physical and occupational therapy; a surgical suite for outpatient procedures; and even cosmetic and anti-aging facilities (including vitamin-infusion therapy) all on-site. “We can keep 98 percent of the patients that come into our urgent care without sending them out to the emergency room,” says Gina Cappelli, Formé’s founder and president. That means if you head to urgent care because you’re not breathing right, and it turns out you need a pulmonologist—they’ll just call one into the room for you. Anyone can walk in for treatment; Formé accepts almost all insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare, and tries to work with the uninsured, too. Follow-ups (and primary care) are done by appointment.
With all this in one place, it’s easy to avoid a trip to the ER. “A friend of mine was in the emergency-room hospital the other night,” Cappelli says. “She sat for two and a half hours waiting to be seen. We have emergency-medicine doctors right here, and right now the people who come to our facility are waiting between 10 minutes and half an hour max.” (Patients park in the City Center, where it costs a dollar an hour, and Formé will reimburse patients who have to pay any extra for parking.) The facility is open every day from 7 am to 10 pm.
