For Teens, Scarsdale's BST Salon Is The B-E-S-T

The new spot for haircuts is just what the barber ordered.

Teens and pre-teens are in a tough spot when it comes to haircuts: no longer entertained by sitting in an airplane-shaped styling chair at a kiddie salon, but not ready for the sophisticated salons geared toward their parents. Lucky for them, BST Salon (Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center, 1128 Wilmot Rd, Scarsdale 914- 472-0400; www.bstsalon.com) opened last month to cater to exactly their age group. Teens sitting in the waiting area of the sleek, 1,500-square-foot space have access to free WiFi, flatscreen TVs, and even Xbox. Then, as they get their haircuts, they can bring the salon’s tablets with them to the styling chairs. “It’s a fun environment for kids to hang out in,” says Salon Manager Donna Longo. “They can get excited to get their hair done, then use the tablets to put photos on Instagram or print them out right there.” Then again, the teens don’t have to have all of the fun— you can always drop the kids off in the waiting area and get a haircut yourself, knowing they have plenty to occupy themselves with. The salon is also the only one in the area to offer Jamberry Nails, which are adhesive nails that come in funky designs and last for two weeks.
