After a dozen years as an interior designer, the multi-talented Laura Michaels—she began her career as a fashion designer—has moved her business from her Armonk home to this cozy studio/shop. The clean, transitional space is filled with samples of window and wall coverings, fabrics, bedding, lighting, hardware, rugs, and furniture.
Done primarily in shades of white, gold, and silver, it features glossy white walls, pure white glass countertops, and white cabinetry lined with lizard-print inserts and sporting big Lucite pulls. “Clients can walk into a clean slate,” says Michaels, “and not be distracted by a particular color scheme.” Hostess gifts and accessories, ranging from UK glassware to photography of the Long Island Sound, round out the enticing mix.
