For the visually impaired, there is no more necessary accessory than eyeglasses. The family-operated, father-son optometry boutique Eye Gallery of Scarsdale, seeks to combine sight with style by providing eye examinations, eye-disease detection and treatment, and a selection of high-quality eyewear. The store — one of the longest-tenured businesses in downtown Scarsdale — also has its own laboratory, where they cut and edge all lenses.
“Eye Gallery uniquely blends health, science, and fashion together,” explains Michael Rosen, BS, OD.
His father, Jay Rosen, OD, founded Eye Gallery in 1979. Michael joined the practice in 1998, and together they have built a thriving business that continues to show strong growth — 15 to 20 percent in the last two years alone. Eye Gallery has five employees, including the Rosens, along with a savvy, multigenerational customer base.
In an industry dominated by chains and online upstarts, Michael remains confident. “With our high level of customer service, high-end eyewear, and state-of-the-art examinations, we don’t consider them competition,” he says. He also believes that Eye Gallery provides a unique experience for patients, putting customer service at the forefront.
The company also focuses on providing exclusive brands of eyewear, including Dior, Chanel, and Chrome Hearts, among others. Michael goes to vision shows all over the world and follows fashion trends to determine which brands to carry.
The Rosens anticipate continual growth for Eye Gallery. “We will keep on looking at ways to improve and grow and provide our patients and customers with the best care and eyewear selection anywhere,” Michael says.
