Alongside the traditional fare, such as souvlaki, stuffed peppers, and mousakka, Niko’s Greek Taverna (287 Central Ave, White Plains; 914.686.6456) executive chef Mike Bianco added a pizza menu in early October. The 10-inch offerings are based on the crust style (three-quarters-to-an-inch thick, crusty bottom, cheese along the edges) owner George Kringas ate as a child growing up in Sparta, Greece. Among the options: a spanakopita pie, the vegan Yia Yia (tomato, shallots, no cheese), and the Ohana with pineapple, pickled greens, smoked ham, bacon, mozzarella, and basil.

Chef Bonnie Saran is continuing her annual tradition of opening her restaurants on Thanksgiving from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for complimentary holiday meals (this year it’s Little Drunken Chef in White Plains). “When I first moved here, I was totally alone,” says Saran, who welcomes anyone looking for some Thanksgiving Day company, “so I understand how the holidays can be a very depressing time for some, even while it’s happy for others.”
