Employment App QuadJobs Graduates To Westchester

The Greenwich-based site, which pairs college students with employers, is quickly expanding into our county.

Students no longer have to search campus pin boards for that summer babysitting gig. Enter fledgling app QuadJobs, which pairs college-age students with local employers seeking to fill a wide range of positions, from tutoring and babysitting to catering and retail. Founded in November 2014, the site has already made major headway in the tristate area, and is quickly expanding to Westchester’s bevy of college campuses with its app slated for release later this month.

“QuadJobs is an online and mobile marketplace that connects local employers—households and businesses—to great college students in their area who are looking for work,” explains Bridie Loverro, one of the QuadJobs founders. “It’s simple to use: You post a job, and that job is sent to qualified students who’ve expressed interest in that type of work.

“We saw a strange divide between campus and community,” says Loverro of the site’s origin. “Our friends wanted to find college helpers and there was no efficient way to reach the right students. Meanwhile, 85 percent of college students are on financial aid in this country. It made sense to connect these two sides in a streamlined marketplace.”

Loverro, an author with a creative and entrepreneurial background, joined with former Managing Director of Deutsche Bank, Betsy O’Reilly, and former recruitment executive, Andra Newman, to found QuadJobs in late 2014. “Starting a business comes with constant challenges,” shares Loverro. “We’ve only been in business for 15 months, and yet it’s incredible to look back on how many hurdles we’ve cleared to bring QuadJobs to life.”

Loverro notes that many students apply almost immediately to posts, with more than 90 percent of jobs receiving multiple applicants the very same day. “When a student applies to an employer’s job, [the employer] sees every job they’ve worked on QuadJobs, as well as performance reviews from past employers and a detailed profile of their experience and skills,” she explains. “[Employers] decide which students they want to interview or hire, and can award the job through the site. Our app is launching this month, making it even easier to do this on the go.”

It is no surprise that with its surfeit of high-performing students, Westchester is the ideal market for such an app. “We’ve seen immediate traction with Westchester families looking for energetic, hardworking college students to babysit, tutor, walk dogs, organize playrooms, or help at parties,” shares Loverro. “Businesses are starting to find the site more and more, too.”

Currently, the QuadJobs team is preparing for the rollout of their app and anticipating a bright future for their startup. “We’re very excited about our growth and the response we’ve gotten from both students and employers,” says Loverro. “It feels great to be part of something providing a benefit to the community.”
