Offender: Elmore “Rip” Torn, 83, has appeared in Men in Black, Dodgeball, Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette, and on 30 Rock.
Crime: The Salisbury, Connecticut, resident was arrested in 2006 for driving while intoxicated after colliding with a tractor-trailer in North Salem (he’d faced similar charges two years prior in Manhattan); no one was injured. Torn pled guilty in 2007, resulting in a $380 fine and the suspension of his license for 90 days.
Post-Incident: In 2008, Torn was nailed again with a DUI, this time in Salisbury, and was arrested once more in 2010 for breaking into the town’s Litchfield Bancorp building, which, allegedly, he drunkenly mistook for his own home. According to his arrest report, the actor was armed with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated at the scene. He later pled guilty to a laundry list of charges, and was given three years of probation and a two-and-a-half year suspended sentence, along with random drug and alcohol testing.
Verdict: The octogenarian’s first infraction? Not knowing when to quit.
