Chef Chris Vergara will prepare a four-course menu at Saint George Bistro (Hastings-on-Hudson) to complement esteemed wines from the Spanish winery Bodegas Emilio Moro on Tuesday October 21 at 7 pm. The Moro family has been making wine for more than 120 years in Ribera del Duero, one of the recognized wine-producing regions of Northern Spain. The winery is family-owned with 625 acres of vineyards that are located at 1,950 feet in elevation on the banks of the Duero River within the town of Pesquera de Duero. All Moro wines are made from Tempranillo grapes, known as Tinto Fino in the Ribera del Duero region.
Among the wines to be served are: Finca Resalso Ribera del Duero (aged for 4 months in French and American oak); Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero (the flagship bottling, produced from vines ranging from 15 to 25 years of age); Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero Malleolus (produced from small plots ranging from 25 to 75 years of age, aged 18 months, and offering sweet red and dark fruit flavors); Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero Malleolus de Valderramiro (planted in 1924, it’s the oldest vines of the estate with a silky tannin on the palate); Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero Malleolus de Sanchomartin (the top of the Moro range, the Malleolus de Sanchomartin is silky upon entry but becomes powerful and structured with firm tannins).
The wines will be available at discounted prices through Grapes—the Wine Company (White Plains) at the event. $125 (tax and tip included). Reservations required.
