Eat With Your Eyes
Ellen Sledge, owner of Penny Lick Ice Cream Company, whips up some of the county’s most sought after frozen treats in her Irvington kitchen—a line of ice cream sandwiches, push pops, and plain old ice cream. It’s so popular because it’s so honest—ingredients of custard, heavy cream, egg yolk, sugar, and natural flavors procured at the same farmers markets at which she (and a team of high schoolers and college kids) sells the ice cream from old-fashioned pushcarts.
